As motorsport legends go, ‘Foggy’ is right up with the likes of Doohan, Biaggi, Bayliss and the greats such as Senna and Schumacher. His name has become synonymous with Ducati and their success in World Superbike, they honoured him with a production version of his race bike – the ‘Ducati 916 SPS Fogarty Replica’.
Introduced to the UK market in 1998, Ducati produced a limited run of only 202 916 Fogarty Replicas as a homologation special. Ducati wanted to modify the frame on the factory bikes in order to take them racing and in order to do this, they had to make a number of bikes available to the public. 200 bikes were produced, however, an additional 2 were manufactured with one going to Carl Fogarty himself and the other to the Ducati museum. This modified frame allowed for a larger airbox which led to a power increase over the standard bike. Now manufactured with a new cylinder head design, Termignoni exhaust, titanium con-rods and numerous other revisions, the “Foggy Rep” produced 134bhp compared to the 126bhp of the 916 SP models.
Carl Fogarty acquired the “S3 FOG” number plate to commemorate his 3 world titles. Our bike has the “T1 FOG” registration plate which will be included with the sale. The bike we are offering is number 140 of the 202 produced and after covering less than 7000 miles it still presents itself beautifully.
The bike will be sold with a new MOT and service from G-tec.
