Description

Formula 1 invokes a passion for speed, determination and absolute focus like few other competitive sports out there, and for many there are the greats and then there are the legends… Whether it’s Stewart, Hill, Hakkinen or more recent names like Rosberg, Hamilton or Vetel, there is one name that embodies these principles like no other – SENNA.

Aytron Senna was a huge fan of Ducati; there are countless references to his friendship with the Castiglioni family that ran the company at the time and between them they agreed to produce a limited availability model with a percentage of the sale proceeds being donated to Ayton’s foundation in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Unfortunately Senna was tragically killed at Imola in 1994 and never got to see the final production of the bike bearing his name.

The 916 Senna (Mk1) was announced to the world in 1995 and immediately became a sales success, with all 300 examples being sold worldwide.

Bikeiconics are proud to announce an opportunity to own one of the iconic Mk1 examples of the bike that Senna put his name too, and not only is it extremely rare, it is also one of only a few remaining Mk1’s that is a ‘zero’ mile bike from new.

#42 was acquired by its current owners in 2011, and has been part of a private collection of 3 iconics Ducati’s, all of which is in completely original, factory condition and remains unridden. Stored in a dehumidified, purpose-built show-garage, #42 looks like it did when it had just been delivered in 1995, and sits on the original tyres that still have the rubber nibs present.

From the numbered plaque on the top triple-clamp through to the unmarked bodywork and wheels, this example is in showroom condition. Supplied with both original keys, the bespoke Senna branded bike cover and the original rear wheel paddock stand, we are confident that this opportunity to acquire one of the rarest production bikes Ducati have made is unrepeatable.

Truly an iconic bike bearing the name of an icon of motorsport, this would make a great addition to any serious Ducati collection.
