Following on from Ducati’s famed Sport Production series bikes from the early 90’s there was a major update in 1997 to create the Sport Production Special or SPS range that became the platform for their World Superbike. These updates included different inlet valves, larger intake ports, new camshafts, lighter crankshaft and 50mm exhaust header pipes. The 1998 version of the SPS also received titanium con-rods, lighter frame and an Ohlins steering damper.
Our beautiful example retains a high level of originality with some subtle upgrades to the previous owners request, which include the later design 5-spoke Marchesini rims from the 916 Fogarty Replica, Ducati Performance rearsets and bodywork that pays homage to the earlier graphic style of the 1997 916SPS.
Mechanically the 996cc engine has received a very recent strip and rebuild following a long period of storage and a full service with belt swap was carried out in June 2019.
A full breakdown of mileage history from the extensive MOT documentation shows that during the past 14 years the bike has only covered a handful of miles with its second owner and spent most of its time on display.
If you are looking for a special motorbike to enjoy at every opportunity and not worry about mileage or future value, this Ducati 916SPS is absolutely the one for you. A very usable future classic in our opinion
Supplied with a fresh MOT and belt service, this stunning Ducati is all ready to go.
