Description

The end of an era…

2004 marked the 10th anniversary of the iconic Tamburini designed Ducati 916, and as a sign the production run off before the new 999 models launch they announced a special ‘Final Edition’ of the 998s. Orders for this 998s Final Edition were very limited and a total of only 562 bikes were manufactured and sold worldwide, and our example is one of only 248 that were sold into the European market in the sought-after monoposto version.

Built around the 136hp testastretta engine and featuring fully adjustable Ohlins front forks, rear suspension shock and steering damper, the 998s FE followed on from the racing derived 998R. Additionally a silver plaque denoting the model was applied to every bike and Ducati’s tricolore paint scheme marked this bike out as a special edition and a collectors dream.

Our example is an original monoposto version, delivered to its only owner in April 2004 through Hummel Motorräder in Duren, Germany and received its first service on 24th June 2004 at 1,167kms. With 5,334kms (3,314 miles) now showing this bike is in showroom condition with very little signs of use or wear on any surfaces. The paint, wheels and components are like new.

Complementing the bike is its original certificate of conformity, certificate of authenticity from Ducati Germany and its original registration papers, we believe this is a unique opportunity to acquire one of the rarest evolutions of the iconic 916-era Ducati’s and an absolute future classic.
